Books At The BBC

It appeared as if by magic. Without any fuss, warning, or announcements. One day it was just there, nestled snuggly into the BBC Arts section of their website; the new Books At The BBC section.

For book lovers it is a one stop shop to find all the coverage the BBC gives to books, which is a lot more than I had earlier known (mainly because I don’t listen to Radio4, though I might start). There are reviews, interviews with authors, and video and audio galore. In fact if you love books, even the obscure ones that you think nobody else knows about, I am sure there will be something on there for you to discover.

BOOKS ON SCREEN: The Casual Vacancy.

There has been a copy of JK Rowling’s first novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy, sitting on my book shelf for ages. I haven’t got around to reading it, and now I may not have to, because tonight the fine people at the BBC will be airing an adaptation of JK Rowling’s novel.

Of course if the adaptation is particularly good, or if it is accompanied by reviews saying how it veered away from the novel too much it may actually inspire me to read the book… Though my list of books in my ‘To Read’ pile is growing weekly, so it may take some time to get around to it.
